On May 21st, I was scammed into buying and sending 14 Apple gift card codes. Yes, I now know it was a mistake. I thought I was helping someone I trusted. I spent €1300. When I realized it was a scam, I acted fast — I called Apple within 45 minutes and went to the police right after.
Apple told me the cards had already been redeemed. But I also informed them: one of the gift cards was never even paid for — it wasn’t activated. That means Apple lost one card too. Still, it seems like they don’t care. No investigation. No responsibility, even for their own system letting an unpaid card be used.
And now… the scammer contacted me again, using a different email address. I called the police again, and they just told me to “delete and ignore it.” I don’t understand — isn’t that new email evidence? Isn’t that worth tracking?
Right now, I feel like no one really cares. Not Apple. Not the police. Not even the fraud help organizations — they’re hard to reach and slow to respond.
I'm alone in this. And I know the money is gone. But the worst part is this feeling — that if you’re the one scammed, you’re the only one who understands what it feels like.
Please be careful. And please speak up. Maybe if more of us share, the system will finally start to take it seriously. this only share true feeling this is not claim and not complain anyone or anything ) only feeling lost and can't find the way becuase truely my mistake and let scame usign me .
Just being curious, where are you from and where did this took place?
You say you sent the cards to a scammer, how can you be sure?
Your boss told you to send the cards, did he or the company payed for the cards?
The people to whom you had to send the cards, did your boss provided you with the addresses?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to understand what happend before we can help you in this matter.
Kind regards
On the morning of May 21, 2025, I received messages on WhatsApp and by email from someone I believed was my new boss. This person said they wanted to surprise a hardworking colleague and asked me to help. They told me to go to Kruidvat and buy gift cards.
At first, they didn’t specify the type of gift card, but later they chose Apple gift cards. They asked me to buy 14 cards and send them the codes, saying they would reimburse me later. Because I was tired and not careful, I didn’t realize it was a scam.
Unfortunately, my real boss had nothing to do with this and had never contacted me before. I was new at the company and just trying to be helpful, but I was tricked by a scammer pretending to be my boss.
Now I don’t understand why I went through with it, but after I sent the 14 codes, the scammer asked for even more. That’s when I realized it was a scam. I tried to delete the pictures of the gift card codes I sent on WhatsApp, but it was too late.
I ran to the police, but they said I had to make an appointment for next week. After about two hours, I contacted Apple Support to try and block the cards, but I think it was already too late—the scammer was gone.
I still have the evidence. I know this may seem like a stupid mistake, but I’m sharing it in case it helps someone else avoid the same scam.
Unfortunately these guys act quickly. That means the codes are probably being cashed in already. My advise, take the time to file a declaration at the police. Whatsapp users can activate a function to delete messages after 24 hours automatically. To be safe create screenshoots of the conversation with the scammer. Show them to the police.
Can we do more at the moment? What support do you need?
Kind regards
